Famous for its rock-solid Mehrangarh Fort built in mid 15th century by Rao Jodha, the founder of the city, Jodhpur is the second largest city of Rajasthan. Part of the Desert Tourist Triangle, the old Jodhpur city is surrounded by a 10 Km long wall with eight gates serving as entrances and the new city is settled around this walled area. Jodhpur houses grand palaces like the Moti Mahal, Sheesh Mahal and the Phool Mahal. In these exquisite palaces, forts, temples and havelis, the genius of its sculptors comes to life and stand as a testimony to the imperial grandeur of the city. Day 05 - Sawai Madhopur.
Morning: Sawai Madhopur (Ranthambhor) :
Sawai Madhopur plays host to the Ranthambor wildlife sanctuary that houses the Indian tiger. It is the best place to see these majestic predators in their normal pursuits. The park is also home to 300 species of birds and hyena, ratel, jackal and fox among other species. There are Lake Palaces, chhatris, old fortifications and a majestic 1,000-year-old fort overlooking the park. The lovely Jogi Mahal is located at the foot of the fort and gives magnificent view of the Padam Talao, painted white with water lilies.
Palace on Wheels - Day 05: Evening: Chittorgarh:
Chittaurgarh owes its name to the women of the city who performed 'jauhar' or immolated themselves to escape the designs of foreign conquerors. Legends of valor and chivalry surround the majestic Chittaurgarh fort.
Palace on Wheels - Sawai Madhopur was named after its founder Maharaja Sawai Madho Singh I. After breakfast we go to the Ranthambhor National Park.
We depart for Chittaurgarh after lunch on-board. In the afternoon we visit the Chittaurgarh fort, lauded in legends valour and chivalry. Shop for tie & dye sarees, leather, embroidered shoes, lac- work articles and bangles.

Day 06 - Udaipur
Udaipur is better known as the 'city of lakes'. One of the most romantic places in India, it is situated around the shimmering clear blue water lakes, which whisper the mood of a bygone era. The two most famous lakes are Pichola and Udai Sagar. The city also has beautiful palaces, the Jag Niwas (Lake Palace), and the Jag Mandir, which appears to rise as if from the blue waters of the lake Pichola. Udaipur is also famous for its miniature paintings.
Palace on Wheels - Udaipur was founded by Maharana Udai Singh of Mewar. With enchanting lakes and lush greenery, this place oozes with beauty and is a symbol of romance, the most appealing place for poets, painters, travelers and writers. Day 07 - Agra/Bharatpur.
Day 07: Morning Agra - Meaning paradise in Sanskrit, Agra is a place made famous by the Taj Mahal, a moment that has come to epitomes love. Built by Shah Jahan in memory of his wife, Mumtaz Mahal, it is one of the most visited and photographed sights in the world. Also famous for its marble showrooms.
Day 07: Afternoon: Bharatpur -
Bharatpur is famous for its bird sanctuary, the nesting place for thousands of Egrets, Siberian cranes, migratory water Fowl and other species of birds.

Visit to National Bird Sanctuary.
Bharatpur (Ghana) once the former hunting preserve of the royal family of Bharatpur, the sanctuary is home to storks and nearly every other kind of bird imaginable. You'll see more than 250 different species nesting on the tops of trees and along the roadside, as well as snakes, lizards, exotic fish and monkeys. Lucky visitors can spot the rare Siberian Crane that migrates to this preserve annually. Also found are chital, black buck, deer and other varieties of animals.

Visit Fatehpur Sikri - the deserted, red sandstone city that was built by Emperor Akbar as his capital and palace in the late 16th century. It was a veritable fairytale city and its "ruins" are still in pristine condition. Also visit the Buland Darwaza the largest gateway in the world.

Afternoon sight-seeing tour of Agra city visiting the impressive Agra Fort, and of course, the most perfect architectural monument in the world -The Taj Mahal.Taj Mahal is the mausoleum of Empress Mumtaz Mahal, the beloved spouse of Shah Jahan, who died in 1630. The Taj is remarkable for its perfect proportion and rich pietra dura, with minute details executed with great skill. The building, often styled "a dream in marble" is said to have taken at least 22 years (1631-1653) to build.

After early breakfast, a week in wonderland comes to an end.
Feel like the royalty on board the Palace on Wheels - a completely self-train. Fully air-conditioned, the train comprises of 14 deluxe saloons, equipped with class amenities to enhance the pleasure of travelling. Each saloon is a combination of 4 twin-bedded chambers with channel music, intercom, attached toilets, running hot & cold water, shower and wall to wall carpeting. The lounge car recaptures the royal style, pomp & pageantry, the quality of the era gone by. The two dining cars-the Maharaja and the Maharani have a traditional Rajasthani ambience serving continental, Indian and Rajasthani cuisine. Reporting time is 16.30 hrs at Delhi Cantonment Railway Station where a Royal Reception awaits you.
This prestigious train departs from Cantonment Railway Station at 17:45 hrs.
